AMANDA SLOANE

Capturing real, everyday life in Atlanta, Georgia.

Unposed, authentic family photography.

So you like the sound of an easy, authentic, family photo session but you need some more information, right? Great — you’re in the right place! Check out these frequently asked questions:

What about the top thing on everyone’s mind right now: social distancing?
I’m all about it. I’ll be shooting all sessions with a telephoto lens right now so I can keep a very safe distance from you and your family. I will also be limiting my sessions to outdoor locations only for the time being (so that could be your yard or some other mutually agreed upon location “in the wild”).

How long is a real life session?
We will be shooting for around 1-2 hours together, depending on location (I like allowing for more time when sessions are at home).

We’re kinda… boring… are you sure our real life is worth capturing?
Yeah, you bet you are! Families tell me this alllllll the time but I have yet to meet one that didn’t fascinate me in some way or another. There is so much beauty in those everyday moments. We will also have a pre-session consultation where we can discuss some fun activities you can plan during our session (this helps keep things moving).

What do we wear?
Whatever you want! Don’t feel pressured to buy new outfits or dress up. Let everyone look the way they would on any given weekend together (my little ones would be half naked — just saying).

Do I have to clean?
Nope. If the thought makes you super anxious then clean as much as you would if a good friend were coming over for a (socially distant) visit.

How much should we expect to spend?
Clients typically invest at least $2,500 for the experience, which includes a custom-designed album

Do you shoot maternity and newborn sessions?
Yes, although I’m still figuring out how to conduct those sessions in a safe way during the pandemic. They are normally a little more directed in nature. You can view sample images here.

What if someone gets sick before our session?
The health of you, your kids, myself and my own family are a top priority. We will absolutely reschedule to another date.

Our family is a little… complicated. Will you still photograph us?
Absolutely. I love working with all families.

What if I still haven’t lost that baby weight yet?
Join the club! I’m also gonna give this one to you straight — don’t wait. Who knows when (or if) you’ll be the “perfect” size for a session. You may have entered a totally new season of life by then and missed the opportunity to capture life as it is right now. Besides – your kids love you just as you are right now and in 20 years, they would love to look back and see the real you.

I’m still a little nervous about having our real life documented… any words of encouragement?
It can be scary! You have to be somewhat vulnerable to let a “stranger” into your life. But it will be so worth it. And I don’t share images publicly without a signed model release so feel free to discuss any privacy concerns you have with me during our consultation.

I still have some questions I want to ask… what should I do?
I’d love to answer them! Shoot me a message here.

Now that you’ve gotten few questions answered, are you ready to see the goods!? I’m a big believer in creating a printed family legacy for our children. You can see some examples of my wall art and storybook albums here.
